Crystal Structure Analysis of Top Dross in Molten Zinc Bath by First Principles Calculation and Synchrotron X-ray Diffraction

In a molten zinc bath in continuous galvanizing line, the top dross particles crystallize as Zn-containing intermetallic Fe2Al5 compound, which generates surface defects final product by easily adhering to steel sheets. The present study focused on analysis of crystal structure first principles calculation and synchrotron X-ray diffraction prepared laboratory. following results were obtained: suggested that two Al atoms at four partially occupied sites proposed Mihalkovič et al., replaced Zn atoms. addition, both types Burkhardt equally was verified conducting profile using RIETAN-FP simulations well experimentally determined lattice constant dross.
